The HIVE ("Hierarchy of International Vengeance and Eliminations", of all things) wants to hire Deathstroke to kill the Titans, but he's not biting. Instead, they entice his son, Grant Wilson, with a promise of making him even stronger than the Terminator (who Grant does not know to be his father).

They'll accomplish this, apparently, by enabling him to use 100% of his brain. People only use 10% normally, you know, but Deathstroke has trained himself somehow to use 90%.

Grant takes the bait and goes off to kill the Titans, but brainpower isn't everything. He's not good enough, so Slade steps in to aid him. They fight, and in the end Grant burns himself out by overusing his new powers.

The issue ends with Carol Sladky standing over Grant's grave, and Slade vowing vengeance on the Titans–just as the HIVE planned. Now, they will get his services for free.
