Twenty-Four Hours To Live

Detective Comics #57 (1941-11)

A man is poisoned and has exactly 24 hours to live. He decides to spend it amusing himself by killing people he dislikes. Batman and Robin stop him from succeeding at some of his attempts, and eventually corner him in his home as he prepares to kill the butler, who was the one that poisoned him in the first place. However, his clock expires before he can do the deed.

Then, the butler reveals that he was the man's twin brother in disguise, and hated his brother for various reasons, and then he too dies, having poisoned himself shortly after poisoning his brother.

A weird and pointless story. Seems like they just wanted to throw in a bunch of 'interesting' ways to commit murder, and then inexplicably throw in the twin thing on the last page for a few panels, and wrap it all up neatly with everyone dead.
