idle game

A game in which a large part of the gameplay involves waiting while the game progresses on its own. There are 'pure' idle games like Progress Quest, which you just start up and then watch it happen, like a screensaver, as well as games that involve making strategic decisions periodically and watching how they play out.

Many, though not all, idle games are incremental games.
