A group of young people arrive at the titular academy (the "Roy Harper Titans Academy") on a boat, like fresh Hogwarts students (and Nightwing later makes a joke, welcoming the students to Defense Against the Dark Arts). The Titans refer to each other as Ms. Starfire and Mr. Nightwing, bizarrely.

While fighting Clock King, Roundhouse complains: "We've fought, like, Deathstroke… I can't believe we're missing the first day of school for this guy!"

In "Hydrology Part 1: Leaching", Bette Kane similarly complained: "But D-list wackjobs like Q-Ball and the Pool Hall Gang are a total joke. I was a Teen Titan. I even fought Deathstroke."

At this point, Nightwing and Starfire are together again.
