Dagon

Written July 1917.

The narrator, a morphine addict, had once been lost at sea. At that time, he awoke to find himself in a region which seemed to have been heaved up from the bottom of the sea, where there is evidence of strange sea-creatures worshiping a terrible fish-god--Dagon. He was later found adrift and rescued, his experience apparently a mere delusion.

Having recounted this story, the narrator means to throw himself from a window, before he can be caught by the creature he saw in his delusion.

This story fails to impress me.
