The Enterprise encounters Finder, a solar-powered machine sent out into the universe by its masters, the Tullvans (now extinct) to gather information. It captures several crewmen, intending to send their minds back to its masters. When Kirk demands their return, Finder requires warp technology in exchange. Unwilling to agree to this bargain, Kirk causes an artificial eclipse to remove Finder's power source. Beaten, and learning of its masters' demise, Finder returns the crewmen and self-destructs. Like any generic Trek story. Nothing special, but it is certainly 'original flavor'.
