The Logic of Chance

This is a submission to the writing contest from the first issue of Contact.

The Enterprise has been destroyed. McCoy is dead. Scott is dead. Kirk has been lost somewhere. Eventually Spock finds him, "paralyzed, catatonic, unable to face the loss of his ship" and brings him to Vulcan. Kirk eventually recovers, becomes more Vulcan-like, bonds with his Vulcan healer, and, to top it all off, experiences pon farr. Sure.
