Chapter One: Crime

Batman: The Long Halloween #1 (1996-12)

Bruce Wayne is attending the wedding of Carmine Falcone's nephew, Johnny Viti. Falcone, who was apparently as associate of Bruce's father, hopes to get him to agree to a money laundering scheme, using his influence on a bank. Bruce refuses, and as he goes to leave, runs into Selina Kyle.

In the parking garage, Harvey Dent is writing down the license plate numbers of the guests. Some of Falcone's people beat him up, and Bruce and Selina come across him on their way out.

Returning later as Batman, Bruce intends to investigate a safe in Falcone's study, only to find that Catwoman is already pilfering from the safe when he arrives. The two are found out, but escape, and Falcone puts a million dollar bounty on each of them. Later, Batman, Gordon, and Dent, agree to work together to take down Falcone.

Batman pays a visit to Richard Daniel, president of the bank Falcone intends to use for his money laundering operation, and threatens him into resigning. This results in no banks being willing to work with Falcone, so he sends Johnny Viti to kill Daniel. Later, Viti himself is shot while in the bath.

Following a tip from Catwoman, Batman and Dent torch a warehouse full of Falcone's cash, but when Dent returns home, his wife informs him he received a package, which promptly explodes.
