"But a woman is a two-edged sword, Petrie, and treacherous." Not much happens. I might abandon this story, since the text is hard to read. Wow, it's pretty progressive, for 1938, Sally deciding to propose to Bart. Well, she didn't get to ask herself, but that's okay. Kind of surprising that he reversed and decided they could marry, after all. And it's nice that his important question wasn't "would you pass the mustard". As for the story itself--stolen ruby, spies get it back, some danger--nothing new. All those twists--not bad!Fu Manchu
